It’s About BREXIT, Stupid

johnhain-defiance-1948016 Respect Our Democracy

There has been much punditry and hot air expended over the local elections in England, and parliamentary ones in Scotland and Wales. Labour blame everything from Brexit to Iran and there is mounting murmuring against their wooden leader. The Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch focuses on attacking Reform and Nigel Farage rather than providing opposition to Labour. The Greens, now an extreme Marxist party are attracting disillusioned Labourites. The Lib Dems plough steadily on. Only Reform is whooping with joy having achieved the seemingly impossible feat of appealing to both ex Conservative and Labour supporters. On the current showing they are the only ones who can claim to be truly, national. and non tribal.

Political 'scientists' and pollsters mutter about fragmentation and disillusionment, pointing to immigration, low growth, the cost of living and lack of housing as reasons for the disillusionment with politics. The problem is that disillusionment is what got Starmer elected. Due to our electoral system he gained a huge majority on a 33.7% share of the vote. In reality he has no democratic mandate which why, perhaps, he never answers a question without blaming everyone under the sun for his government's mistakes.

There is an answer that the great and good refuse to contemplate. It is that following the Brexit referendum the majority of politicians, civil servants and media treated the electorate with contempt. They were determined to reverse the people's will, and if that failed to deliver it in such a way that it would fail. The EU vowed to punish the UK for daring to leave and found willing British helpers in all the parties and much of the civil service and media especially the BBC.

Labour was joined by many Conservative and LibDem parliamentarians as the tried to stop the referendum being implemented. With the election of Johnson the task was to produce a deal so poor that the people would regret their impudence. One Nation Tory supporters of the EU made sure that withdrawal would be hamstrung. Badenoch promised to scrap EU regulations and either did not want to, or was prevented from all but cosmetic changes by Tory MPs. She claims it's changed, but having to rely on the pro EU members for support undermines her claims.

Following the May 2026 elections some of the Uni-Party have made it clear they will not cooperate with Reform, Birmingham is a case in point. Reform is the largest party, but short of a majority. The conservatives seem happy to stand aside and allow a calamitous Labour council to stay in charge supported by Marxist Greens and Islamic extremists. Anything, it seems, is preferable to respecting democracy. It as if King Richard II has risen from the grave to tell Reform voters "Peasants ye are and peasants ye shall remain".

Despite the best efforts of the democracy wreckers and calamitous Sunak and Starmer governments, the UK has outperformed both France and Germany since leaving the EU. What could have been achieved if the people's will had been properly implemented?

Starmer is a Fabian Marxist determined to take Britain back into the EU by any means, but of course using well tried Fabian tactics of slight of hand and slow undermining of the truth. In this he supported by Andrew Bailey another Fabian who is Governor of the Bank of England. Bailey, the man who prints money and was delighted to sabotage Liz Truss an elect red leader. The Fabians want a world socialist government. For them the EU is a stepping stone toward that goal. They do not believe in Nationhood or National sovereignty. The rejection of European integration by Attlee's government was not because they disagreed with the goal. Rather it was because the saw the Commonwealth as a more trustworthy route. When that failed they embraced the EU.

Conservative and LibDem support for creating a new country of which Britain would be a state or province is more difficult to understand. Dislike of democracy and the nuisance of having to justify their actions are perhaps a large part. It all comes down to a contempt for democracy and the people. A certainty that they know what is best and that the people should obey.

The people it seems have had enough. It is now irrelevant whether they voted Leave or Remain. It is now only relevant that they are, generally, no longer prepared to be 'Ruled'. They are no longer prepared to be ignored and have their desires, wishes and votes trashed. Commentators and Uni-Party apparatchiks wail that the country is divided. They do not admit that they are responsible. That by ignoring or seeking to overturn our democracy at the behest of their EU masters it is they who have damaged democracy.

Reform have given a voice to the downtrodden. They are building an organisation and with control of many parts of the Country have the opportunity to demonstrate their ability. If they do so and stick to their principles it should result in the return of true democracy to the land that gave it birth. For the sake of our country, those in other parties who actually respect democracy should join them.
