Brexit is done. We are officially out. You might be hearing mixed opinions from people about it, but the truth is that the UK has a bright future ahead since now we are not bound to any agreement. The past three-and-a-half years were hard and they dented the democratic process and caused political paralysis in the country. But Britain is passed that and good days are coming ahead.
In Broader Spectrum of Things: New Relations (International Perspective)
The United Kingdom has been bound by the European Union when it comes to international trade. Being a member of the EU, the UK had to follow all the rules and regulations and let's face it once in for all that it has not helped the UK with their international trade. Now that the UK is free of all those obligations, there is already progress in terms of international trade.
In the past few days, there have been plenty of indications that Britain is heading in the right direction. The UK-Africa investment summit that took place recently, where Prime Minister Boris Johnson presented his ambitions about 'global Britain' and how he plans to expand post-Brexit trade with African nations and the rest of the world.
There is no denying the fact that there has been immense economic uncertainty in the past couple of years. However, despite this uncertainty, inward investment in the UK has remained pretty consistent and steady. According to the data of the United Nations, the UK retained its position and remained the top recipient of foreign direct investment (FDI) by the end of 2018. This data is a clear indication that Britain is better off out from the EU because now it'll have even more horizons to explore.
Now that the UK has left the EU, there will not be any economic barriers and Britain will have the chance to expand its economy. The economic complexities, the prerequisite of being of a member of the EU, are not a problem for the UK anymore. Therefore, it is safe to say that the people of the United Kingdom can expect a growing and steady economic development. This will ultimately bring prosperity at the micro-level that I am going to explain in my next perspective.
As it was announced by the then Chancellor Sajid Javid in the begging of January that the budget will take place on 11 March, it was a sigh of relief for the people of Britain. He promised that it'll be a spending spree kind of budget and it'll support the parts of the country that have been left behind for far too long. This means that you can expect a rise in living wage in April. There are also plans to cut national insurance payments. It'll also help to improve the quality of life at the local level.
This economic prosperity will help to resolve social issues like drug addiction and other such problems. Above all, people will be able to get the much-needed help available at ARC Drug Rehab Centre.
As we have left the EU, the future of Britain is very clear. The argument that the EU is the economic safety net for the UK has already been refuted by the facts that I've mentioned before. So, let's hope that the UK prosper and start focusing on how we can contribute to the bright future of the UK rather than wallowing on something that has been restraining us from exploring our full potentials.
